Polyurethane coating is one of the fastest growing varieties in China's paint industry. Its performance is good and its variety is wide. It can be used in various fields such as construction and industry. The only downside is high content of free isocyanuric acid, especially TDI, for the environment and humans. Physical health brings about harm. For this reason, China's paint industry has been looking for physical and chemical methods to reduce the free TDI content in polyurethane coatings, but the effect is not obvious. The most effective method so far has been thin-film evaporation technology, which is only owned by Germany, the United States, and Japan in foreign countries and is expensive.
Therefore, in September 2003, Shanghai Huasheng Chemical Plant cooperated with Beijing Xinte Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. to adopt a foreign technology that did not exist in this area to overcome the difficulties, so that the free monomer content of polyurethane coatings was controlled below 0.5% (actually 0.35% or less), and it is officially running.
