On the Important Role of Packaging in Logistics Safety (I)

[Abstract] This article discusses the content of logistics safety research. Then, from the perspective of packaging, the paper discusses in detail the effects of packaging materials, weight, shape, size, and methods on the logistics safety in each section of logistics. Finally, the packaging technology measures to improve logistics safety were discussed.
Keywords: packaging logistics; security; technical measures Logistics refers to the physical movement of goods from suppliers to those who need them, and is an economic activity that creates time and place values. In addition to various activities including packaging, handling, storage, inventory storage, distribution processing, transportation, and distribution, it also includes the flow of information that links these activities. From the supplier to the consumer, the goods must be repackaged, distributed, and transported; the handling, storage, and distribution of logistics information. In these logistics activities, the goods will be lost. The commodity losses include machinery, physics, chemistry, and information. Various aspects. In order to ensure the safety of the entire logistics activities, it is necessary to analyze the causes of the loss of goods. According to statistics on the loss of goods caused by poor packaging in China each year, the figure is quite alarming. Therefore, it is of great significance to strengthen the research on the mechanism of commodity loss and reduce the loss of commodities in the logistics process. This article attempts to study the security issues in the logistics process from the perspective of packaging.
1 The relationship between packaging and logistics Packaging has a special place in the entire logistics activities. In the process of production and distribution, the packaging is at the end of the production process and the beginning of the logistics process, that is, both the end of production and the beginning of the logistics process. Packaging is the basis of logistics activities. Without packaging, it is almost impossible to achieve other logistics activities (except for bulk cargo flow). Therefore, the packaging runs through the entire logistics process, and its materials, forms, methods, and shape design all have an important impact on other logistics links. In addition to the impact on the economics of logistics activities, packaging also has an important impact on the safety of logistics activities.
2 Contents of Logistics Security Study The contents of logistics security study include the security of goods in the logistics process and the security of information flow.
2.1 Safety of Commodities Commodity safety refers to the change in the quality of the goods within the allowable range. The changes include physical, mechanical, physiological, biochemical and biological changes. The physical changes of commodities include volatilization, melting, condensation, odor, contamination and other forms; the mechanical changes of commodities mainly include crushing, deformation, cracking, scratching, etc.; the chemical changes of commodities include oxidation, aging, corrosion, etc.; physiological and biochemical changes of commodities. Changes mainly refer to germination, germination, bolting, and embryonic development of living organisms (such as seeds, fruits, fresh eggs, etc.); the biological changes of commodities mainly refer to commodities where animal products and plants are the main raw materials, and are subject to pests. And microbial erosion, moldy, fermentation and so on. Studying the security of logistics goods is to study what measures are taken to ensure that the natural attributes of commodities have the ability to withstand external environmental conditions in the logistics process. For example, electronic products can be protected from shocks and impacts during handling, drop and impact, and transportation during transit. In addition, electronic products can be protected against the intrusion of external oxygen through mold-proof packaging.
2.2 Security of information flow Information flow refers to the flow of information, instructions, signals, documents and other forms of service for goods movements during the logistics process. The control of logistics movement is accomplished by information flow. Therefore, research logistics cannot be separated from information flow.
In general, people often classify packaging into sales (commercial) packaging and transportation (industrial) packaging. In the flow of information, as far as packaging is concerned, it is the logo of the shipping package and the bar code of the sales package. Although this information is static in and of itself, in the entire logistics activity, they serve other logistics. For example, dangerous goods packaging marks, used to identify dangerous goods, suggesting protective measures should be taken to ensure the safety of logistics; receipt and delivery signs, used to identify the goods, to achieve the management of the receipt and delivery of goods; storage icon logo is based on the product Certain characteristics such as fear of moisture, shock, heat, fear of freezing, pressure, etc., and its purpose is to cause the operator's attention in the transportation, loading and unloading, storage process, so that they according to the requirements of the graphic signs Do the operation.
Studying the security of information flow, in terms of packaging, is how to ensure that the logos of transportation packages are not easily erased and destroyed during the logistics process, and how to ensure that the barcodes of sales packages are correctly and easily collected and read.
