3D printing: the perfect combination of FDM and metal sintering

Due to the lack of upper jaw, the red-crowned crane is unable to eat on its own and endangers life. Hospital nurses spend two or three hours a day feeding hundreds of red-crowned cranes (standing) to maintain their lives.

The red-crowned crane is the world's endangered wild animal and is also a national first-class protected animal. There are only more than 1,000 in China. The life expectancy of red-crowned cranes can reach 50-60 years, while "standing" is only 6 years old.

Human scientific and technological achievements are applied to the rescue of red-crowned cranes. A significant rescue activity began.

Because of the global precedent, there is never a precedent for the red-crowned crane 3D printing, and because of the red-crowned crane's crotch, the overall shape is slender, the interior is hollow structure, the upper jaw fracture surface is uneven, and the position for fixing the nail can be used too little. , the organization of nerve organs and complex conditions, etc., resulting in the production of sputum is very difficult. In the face of difficulties, young brave people are not timid, they conduct in-depth communication research, the program will be quickly determined: in order to steal time, obtain accurate data, save costs, first use FDM technology 3D printing plastic mold for trial installation, to shape determination After that, titanium alloy was used as the material of the bismuth, and the laser sintering equipment was used to print the plaque.

The injured red-crowned crane has a life span of more than 50 years. Due to its characteristics, the plastic material cannot be accompanied by its life. The titanium alloy material is suitable for printing, and its light weight, high hardness and strong corrosion resistance are the most suitable materials. However, without accurate data, direct 3D printing of titanium alloy can not be successful once. If it is repeated many times, time and cost can not be consumed, so FDM is selected in combination with metal sintering.
