Showa Denko Japan uses waste plastic as raw material for ammonia

Japan's Showa Denko recently announced that it will start using waste plastics (return adhesives) as a chemical recycling business for raw materials such as ammonia. It is scheduled to start production in April 2003. The Kawasaki Plant will build a recycling plastics plant with a capacity of approximately 64,000 tons a year. It will produce about 58,000 tons of liquid ammonia and other chemicals without generating waste. In addition to its contribution to the recycling of recycled plastics, the company’s move will also reduce the cost of ammonia raw materials by 50% to increase its international competitiveness.
