Calibration test in G7 (4)

Automatic printing control system

If you have installed an automatic control system, you need to mention the 50C, 40M, 40Y gray blocks on the control bar to control the gray balance and L * absolute value. If the system does not allow grayscale control, consult your supplier on how to control it, and then manually control the gray balance during calibration, and if necessary, place the automatic system in the most important position.

Record wet and dry ink values separately

Record the solid Lab values (and / or solid density) of the CMYK inks when wet and dry, as well as the Lab values of the CMY midtone gray blocks and the CMYK 50% color blocks of each color. These are standard values in production work.

The standard values in ISO and GRACOL are dry density values. If the wet ink value is much different from the dry ink value (generally higher than the dry wet value), in order to ensure that the field measurement value of dry ink is correct, the closest wet density value needs to be selected.

Note: Although ISO12647-2 specifies field ink values in the CIELab chapter, GRACOL has to admit that many press operators find it easy to control the field density. This is not difficult to understand, because each operator will use their own paper and ink, their own measurement tools, to obtain their own standard density according to CIELab.
