Tania Richardson is the founder and CEO of Tomas Pearce Interior Design, based in Toronto. We had the chance to sit down with her and learn more about her journey and vision.
Tania Richardson is the founder and CEO of Tomas Pearce Interior Design. Alongside Melandro Quilatan, the President and lead creative, they have been crafting some of the most remarkable interiors across the globe. Known for their meticulous attention to detail and refined elegance, Tomas Pearce Interior Design specializes in both commercial and residential spaces.
With bold and luxurious designs that never sacrifice livability, Tania and her team continuously push boundaries, creating spaces that are fresh, unique, and full of character. CovetED had an exclusive interview with Tania, giving us a glimpse into the mind of one of Toronto’s most inspiring interior designers.
For Tania, the most rewarding part of her job isn’t just the grand designs or the furniture choices—it's the joy and emotion she sees when people connect with the spaces she helps create. She says, “Every day brings something new, and each challenge is an opportunity to grow.â€
The pandemic has brought new challenges, but it's also pushed Tania and her team to be even more innovative. At Tomas Pearce, they're focusing on integrating health and wellness into every design, ensuring social distancing doesn't compromise the beauty or functionality of a space.
Tania recalls the moment that marked the beginning of their journey: “It was New Year’s Day when I got a call from Melandro, who decided to join me full-time to start our firm. We had worked together for years and always dreamed of this. Now, 16 years later, we’ve built a brand with strong values and a culture that continues to shape the future of design.â€
Looking ahead, Tania dreams of expanding into luxury hospitality projects, believing her experience in high-end residential and commercial design will be key to success. “There's always room to grow,†she says. “It takes a village—supportive families, dedicated employees, clients, and partners—to make it all possible.â€
In my mind, there is always room to grow and learn. It has taken supportive families and friends, dedicated employees, consultants, clients, suppliers, and trades to get to where we are today. It truly takes a village to do what we do. Without the help and support of each one of these amazing people, we could not be as successful as we are. We remain humble and grateful as this support system has, and continues to, champion us, and we look forward to continuing to evolve and expand.

For Tania, success is not just measured by the scale of the projects, but by the emotional impact on her clients. “When I see their reactions, it speaks volumes. It’s humbling to know we’ve made a difference in their lives.†She finds fulfillment in knowing her work improves the everyday experiences of those who live in the spaces she helps design.
Tomas Pearce prides itself on creating timeless interiors. Their expertise spans luxury residences around the world, including private homes, vacation villas, chalets, cottages, pavilions, and coach houses. They focus on designing spaces that reflect not only a lifestyle but also the practical needs of their clients.
“To us, communication is vital—we want to know each of our clients inside out. Whether it’s for a luxury residence or a common amenity space in a condominium, we think about every intimate need for space. We get to know our clients: from what and when they cook, to how they navigate within a space, to what they enjoy in terms of entertainment. These are all important aspects to consider. We can design the best spaces that truly suit the lifestyle and needs of our clients.â€

Reflecting on the past two years, Tania admits the pandemic was challenging but also eye-opening. “Space became limited, and social distancing was the norm. It was an interesting challenge to redefine the new normal for shared areas. We’re transforming how people experience condo living.â€
She sees current trends leaning toward subtle detailing and graphic statements. The 80s are making a comeback, reimagined with modern geometric flair—from minimalist interiors to bold furniture lines and vibrant art.
With exciting upcoming collaborations, Tania is thrilled to share some of her team’s future projects: “From a high-profile residential project in Toronto’s Bridal Path neighborhood to luxury condo suites and a multi-floor amenities plan, we’re excited to bring these ideas to life.â€
The Tomas Pearce style is international, driven by a love of good design, blending modern and traditional elements. Their clientele includes both residential homeowners and commercial developers who seek opulent yet simple, elegant, and functional spaces. Looking ahead, Tania hopes to see more emphasis on health and wellness in design—not just in aesthetics, but in team culture and work-life balance.
“One thing we’re really focused on at Tomas Pearce is not following the typical design lifestyle. We value our team and want them to have a positive experience working with us, which means delivering incredible designs while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.â€
