Towering columns with elegant interiors design are present at Versace’s autumn winter show.
Covet House blog highlights how the catwalk at Versace's autumn winter menswear show was transformed by a stunning pavilion made of towering columns inspired by classical architecture. The design studio Hylemo was tasked with creating this striking set, which recently took place in Milan. Their vision was to bring a sense of grandeur and power that aligns perfectly with the Versace brand identity.
Each column, standing five meters high, is crafted entirely from laser-cut plywood and features six facets adorned with the iconic Medusa head logo. According to Hylemo, these structures were designed to evoke the majesty of classical architecture, reflecting the brand’s signature style and strength.
The challenge of assembling each column on-site within 36 hours was carefully considered during the design phase. "The ribs are pre-assembled from overlapping layers of ply to create large elements efficiently," the studio explained. This approach ensured both speed and precision in construction.
The laser-cut panels not only serve as horizontal bracing but also tell a visual story through their scaling triangular pattern, echoing the theme of tribe featured in the show. As guests settled into their seats, stage lighting was strategically placed to cast shadows of the intricate patterns onto the floor, enhancing the dramatic atmosphere.
Hylemo, founded in 2015 by friends Harry Bowen and Josh Haywood, previously gained attention for designing a temporary plywood “temple†for the Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Their innovative approach to design continues to impress across various platforms.
