e-Nable's New Online Service Hand-O-Matic Makes 3D Printing Prosthetics Easier

e-Nable may be the most famous and most energetic global 3D printing online community so far. Recently, e-Nable has introduced a new online tool kit, Hand-O-Matic, to help children in need around the world.

For those who don't know much about this community, here is a brief introduction to E-Nable. This is a group of 1600 volunteers from around the world. It started as an online community on Google+, the E-Nable Group. The sponsor was Jon Shull, who called for makers of 3D printers to come from all over the world. Join together to print assembly parts for friends who need prosthetics. His practice is to set up an E-Nable map on the Internet. People with 3D printers can register and help friends in need to seek help nearby.

This brought good news to thousands of people with disabilities around the world and brought them low-cost customized functional prostheses. Children with disabilities especially benefited from this, and these 3D printed robots suddenly turned them from the object of partner ridicule into cool super heroes. Some healthy children even marry them.

E-Nable recently held an event in Baltimore, where many children, parents, doctors, and 3D modelers came together to discuss the development and comparison of the latest designs. At the same time, we produced 272 sets of fake hands for children.

This great event was supported by YouMagine, an online 3D printing community, which is owned by Ultimaker, a renowned 3D printer manufacturer. Ultimaker founder Erik de Bruijn explained in a blog that they are also involved in E-Nable's development of the next-generation model customization tool Hand-O-Matic, which can make prosthetic design simpler and easier.

He explained, "Now we are combining online tools with desktop 3D printers to provide 3D printing for those who need it. e-Nable is a community about sharing, giving, collaborating, producing, open source, and 3D printing. ”

The tool works like this: first go to the Hand-O-Matic page on the YouMagine website, and then

Enter your size Choose different models of hands, if you need a prosthesis, preview the parts website will generate a 3D-printable STL file and email it to you

In this way, everyone can design their own "Raptor Hand", which is the latest design of e-Nable, combining the advantages of other prosthetic designs. If you want to also want to print a Raptor Hand, go to: http://enablingthefuture.org/upper-limb-prosthetics/the-raptor-hand/Download.

However, if you are not very good at 3D printing, you can request those who have a 3D printer to help you create it. You simply fill out a form and send it to e-Nable. Here is a video tutorial for assembling a Raptor Hand robot:
